Thermal Camera Applications in R&D (Basic Theory, Characteristics, and Use Cases)
Importance of Thermal Management in R&D to Prevent Electronic Device Recalls
Heat in electronic devices reveals product abnormalities. Excessive heat can also trigger recalls of shipped products. Thermal measurement is therefore being used in various ways in the R&D field, and it is very important prior to completing product design.
To date, the electrical equipment field has been the area where thermal imaging cameras are most actively used in general.
So while we have previously introduced thermal imaging camera applications mainly focused on electrical equipment management, from now on we will demonstrate the applicability of thermal imaging cameras in increasingly diverse areas.

[Application in R&D stage: managing PCB board heat generation by connecting to a PC]
I will introduce use cases in the R&D field in particular. In general, thermal imaging cameras can be utilized in the testing/verification phase after PCB or device development.
In the case of PCB, thermal imaging cameras enable visualization of heat patterns across the entire temperature of the PCB, allowing developers to quickly and easily determine whether there are any design anomalies. At this point, if the temperature in a specific area is higher than expected, developers can identify and correct circuit design or component issues beforehand.
This webinar will focus on the application of thermal imaging cameras in the R&D field. We plan to provide detailed explanations on the basic theory of thermal imaging cameras, characteristics of thermal imaging cameras, and use cases of thermal imaging in research and development, and will also include measurement demonstration videos using Fluke thermal imaging cameras.
