# Core Technologies of Intelligent Manufacturing
This seminar will discuss what edge computing is and introduce its trends and implementation methods.

We will explain the "core functions" of edge computing and explore why 5G is essential for edge computing.
"Edge Computing" is an emerging industry. The government has allocated over one trillion won in investment budget for "smart factories," "smart farms," and "smart cities," and it can be said that linkage with 5G, a technology receiving attention these days, is essential.
Creating "edge computing" requires an appropriate "environment," and technologies capable of developing hardware and software tailored to that environment are necessary.
Due to the nature of "edge computing," it interconnects with specific terminal devices, so there is a need to develop "terminals," "communication" connecting terminals to the surrounding environment, and in particular, "low power consumption" capabilities.
Since the environment itself cannot predict the power supply conditions, many low-power technologies are needed.
We will examine the software required for this, review how communication "protocol" specifications are defined, and explore "watchdog" technology and related topics.
We also introduce a "dedicated ARM server" to be used in edge computing.

It is a "low-power ARM server" based on "64-bit 1GHz 24-core (real cores)," and based on a remote server management solution, remote server monitoring and remote control are easily possible "via web browser only" without installing separate programs.
Going forward, edge computing has become an indispensable key element in Industry 4.0, and "edge computing dedicated servers" will become necessary accordingly.
For those with strong interest in IoT, IIoT, edge computing systems, and low-power servers, we encourage you to attend and gain valuable information.
