When designing 'Ethernet systems' that are widely used not only in homes but also in industrial markets, enterprise and telecommunications markets, several situations must be considered. The system architecture varies depending on the number of Ethernet ports required for the system, the presence or absence of a host processor such as an MPU, and whether a MAC is present when a host processor exists.

[Introduction to 'Microchip Ethernet Portfolio']
The Microchip Ethernet portfolio includes Ethernet PHY, Ethernet controllers, USB-to-Ethernet products, and Ethernet switch products. The Ethernet PHY is a transceiver that converts Ethernet signals into electrical signals at the physical layer, and the Ethernet controller enables Ethernet use on hosts without a MAC. USB-to-Ethernet products convert USB interfaces to Ethernet interfaces. Ethernet switches enable multiple Ethernet ports to be integrated into a system.
Through acquisitions and mergers with various companies, Microchip is expanding its scope beyond the existing industrial market to a broader range. In this webinar, we will also cover 10G or higher Ethernet PHY products and hundreds of gigabits or higher Ethernet switch products used in enterprise and telecommunications markets.
