# DC/DC Converter Peripheral Circuit Design - Part 1

In this webinar, we will briefly explain the operating principles of DC/DC converters, and introduce the circuit design process from specification confirmation to IC selection, peripheral component selection methods, and precautions.

In the circuit configuration of DC/DC converters, IC selection and component selection based on the required specifications as a power supply are critical.
First, the required specifications include items such as input voltage, output voltage, ripple, efficiency, soft start time, and frequency. The IC is selected to match the required specifications for these items. Then, the peripheral components required for the selected IC are confirmed, and the circuit is constructed.
The basic peripheral components required for DC/DC converters are input/output capacitors and an output inductor.
The input capacitor is used to reduce input ripple and address spike noise, while the output capacitor serves to reduce output ripple. The output inductor stores and releases energy during switching, and flattens switching pulses to generate a constant voltage.

In this webinar, we will provide more detailed explanation on IC selection according to required specifications, peripheral component selection methods for input/output capacitors and inductors, and precautions. We hope this will be a good opportunity to understand DC/DC peripheral circuit design.
