In recent years, demand for lithium-ion batteries has grown rapidly, and this trend is expected to continue.
Electric vehicles and power grid infrastructure are driving the growth of lithium-ion batteries, and accordingly, demand for high-precision, high-current battery testing and formation equipment is also increasing.
The performance and lifespan of all batteries are determined during the formation process, and battery testing and formation equipment are designed specifically according to the application. Low-current equipment charges and discharges using converters and integrated switching FETs.
Medium-current equipment uses single-phase controllers and external switching FETs. High-current equipment uses multi-phase controllers, and the number of phases can be increased as current capacity increases (component size and cost also increase).
TI's modular battery tester reference design for 50A, 100A, and 200A applications can achieve a maximum charge and discharge level of 200A by combining 50A and 100A battery test designs.
Therefore, by using this reference design, you can design to meet various levels of high-current battery tester requirements in a modular manner. Multiple low-current battery tester channels can be connected in parallel to design high-current applications, increasing flexibility and reducing costs.
We invite you to attend the TI webinar to receive real-time technical support from expert engineers and commemorative gifts provided upon registration.
