Microchip AVR DA Product Family with Built-in CIP of Unique Functionality Assisting in Functional Safety

In this lecture sponsored by element14, I will introduce the AVR-DA, a newly launched 8-bit MCU from Microchip. 

The AVR 8-bit product line consists of four product families: tinyAVR, megaAVR, AVR-DA/DB, and XMEGA. All of these product families feature the AVR Core and share the same development environment and characteristics, while each has some distinguishing differences.

Each product family offers between 300 and over 1,000 diverse products, which can be selected based on Flash size, package type, and desired functionality. 

AVR-DA is built on the AVR Core, but unlike conventional AVR products with a maximum operating frequency of 20MHz, it supports a faster operating frequency of 24MHz. It also offers diverse product variants based on identical functionality across different Flash sizes, pin counts, and packages. Key features of the product include 12-bit ADC, 10-bit DAC, analog comparator, zero-cross detector, configurable custom logic, event system, various communication peripherals, 16-bit and 12-bit timers, and a capacitive touch controller. In this lecture, I will provide detailed explanations of these features. 

Finally, I will discuss the additional functionalities and advantages that the new products AVR128DA64 and AVR32DA32 offer compared to the widely-used conventional products ATmega128 and ATmega328PB.
