Isolation systems are used in many applications. The most common reason for adding isolation to system design is the presence of hazardous voltages.
Temporary overvoltage conditions or faults can create dangerous situations. National and international standards exist to maintain safety in such circumstances.
In some cases, isolation is added for performance advantages.
The purpose is to limit current flow to zero or a very small amount.
This maintains safety with a high level of isolation while delivering excellent performance.
