MEASUREMENT101: Fundamentals of DC Measurement - Low-Level Measurement

Welcome to all those seeking to establish foundational knowledge in the electrical and electronics fields.

In this webinar, we will explain fundamental concepts related to DC measurement and explore methods for conducting more accurate measurements. Learn from the most basic theory of DC measurement to content on low-level measurement. Both topics are essential elements that must be understood in electronics engineering and research fields, or anywhere leakage current occurs. By attending Keithley's webinar, you will gain significant help in understanding DC measurement. 

Part 1: Fundamentals of DC Measurement

In Part 1, we will learn the fundamental theory of DC measurement and then examine various measurement tools. We will explore DC measuring instruments such as 'digital multimeters', 'power supplies', and 'source measurement units'.

We will also examine connector types. Connectors come in various types such as banana, alligator clips, Coax/Triax, and Phoenix. Additionally, we will explore the differences between 2-wire and 4-wire connections and 4-point Collinear Probes.

Part 2: Low-Level Measurement

In Part 2, we will focus on 'low-level measurement'. In this lecture, we will learn what 'low level' means and examine key terminology. We will review high-sensitivity measurement equipment and provide guidance on optimizing low current and voltage measurements. Therefore, by attending this lecture, you will learn how to perform accurate and reliable measurements.

This lecture has been developed for those who wish to build foundational electronics knowledge, those interested in experimental and design work, or those who wish to refresh existing knowledge. Attend the lecture and solidify your foundation in electrical and electronics measurement!

Brad Odhner
Keithley Marketing Manager

Brad joined Keithley as an Application Engineer in 2017 and supports all areas of Keithley instrumentation including the 4200A-SCS parametric analyzer, source measurement units, DMMs, and data acquisition instruments. He is one of the owners of Keithley's example code GitHub repository with emphasis on code for SMUs and has conducted numerous webinars and training sessions. He holds a degree in Physics from Case Western Reserve University.

Elizabeth Makley
Keithley Applications Engineer

Elizabeth is an Applications Engineer supporting Keithley's digital multimeter, switching, data acquisition, and high-sensitivity product lines. She graduated from the University of Toledo with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering, and gained cooperative experience supporting semiconductor characterization systems before beginning her career as a professional engineer.
