Edge AI Transcending MCU Limitations, Next-Generation Smart Systems Implemented with PSOC™ Edge and DEEPCRAFT™
PSoC™ Edge is a next-generation Edge MCU platform that integrates high-performance computing, ultra-low-power control, security, and AI/ML and HMI into a single MCU.
PSoC™ Edge enables Always-On AI, voice and audio processing, graphical HMI, and advanced security on a single chip through its dual CPU-based multi-domain architecture—capabilities that were difficult to implement with conventional MCUs. To achieve this, PSoC™ Edge is equipped with an Arm® Cortex®-M55 (up to 400 MHz) for high-performance applications and an Arm® Cortex®-M33 (up to 200 MHz with TrustZone® support) for low-power control and security. Through machine learning acceleration based on Ethos™-U55 and NNLite, it simultaneously satisfies Edge AI performance and power efficiency.
However, in actual product development, the challenge customers face most is not hardware performance, but rather how to apply and optimize AI models on Edge MCUs.
To address this, Infineon provides DEEPCRAFT™ Edge AI software.
DEEPCRAFT™ supports an end-to-end AI development flow spanning from data collection through model training, edge optimization, and deployment to PSoC™ Edge MCU.
Through this, customers can efficiently implement Always-On low-power AI and high-performance AI inference tailored to the PSoC™ Edge architecture without needing deep understanding of complex AI internal structures.
The combination of PSoC™ Edge and DEEPCRAFT™ goes beyond a simple MCU + AI accelerator, providing an Edge AI platform that can be directly applied to actual product development.
