'V2X-AIR', LTE-V2X method applied to enhance user convenience
Improving entry barriers such as price burden, complex installation, and usability issues
Etiforce (CEO Ho-Jun Kim), a startup developing V2X (vehicle-to-everything/infrastructure communication) technology, is starting to attack the domestic market in earnest by obtaining ‘C-ITS certification’ for its V2X terminal.
Etiphos announced on the 29th that it had obtained ‘C-ITS certification’ from the Korea Intelligent Transport Systems Association (ITS Korea).
The product that received this certification is the aftermarket vehicle terminal (OBU, Onboard Unit) 'V2X-AIR'.
This product uses the LTE-V2X method adopted by major countries such as the US, Korea, China, and Europe. It is easy to install in vehicles and features enhanced user convenience through linkage with smartphone applications.
In particular, it is evaluated as a product that has improved the price burden, complex installation, and usability issues that were pointed out as entry barriers in the existing market.
C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems) certification is an essential certification to ensure compatibility and communication quality between V2X communication equipment, and is absolutely required for the supply of domestic V2X equipment.
This certification enables V2X-AIR to be sold immediately in the domestic market. It means that it has been recognized as a product that exists.
“Obtaining C-ITS certification means that our product has passed both indoor and actual road tests required by domestic standards,” said Yongtae Park, CTO (Executive Director) of Etiforce. “By securing the communication quality and interoperability required for domestic V2X-related businesses, we have established a bridgehead for expanding domestic sales.”
Starting with this vehicle terminal certification, Etifos plans to sequentially obtain domestic C-ITS certification as well as the global certification 'OmniAir Certification' for all of its V2X products by the first half of 2025.
Through this, we plan to further strengthen our competitiveness in the global V2X market.
V2X technology is an advanced technology that prevents traffic accidents and improves road safety by sharing real-time information between vehicles. As the introduction of intelligent transport systems (ITS) based on C-ITS is accelerating, the growth potential of the V2X market is further increasing.
Etiphos will continue to pursue certification to secure competitiveness not only in the domestic market but also in the global market.
A company official said, “We plan to actively target domestic and international markets by securing technological reliability.”
