Development of embedded ECU software for BMW's next-generation vehicles
Siemens Digital Industries Software continues its collaboration with Infineon to enhance the performance of its next-generation Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) software and develop BMW’s next-generation embedded ECU software for vehicles.
Siemens announced today that it is combining AUTOSAR Classic Platform R20-11, Siemens’ embedded automotive software platform, with Infineon’s AURIX™ TC4x microcontrollers (MCUs).
This will enable automotive OEMs to achieve production readiness to deliver the next-generation capabilities required for software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
As the automotive industry grows in demand for autonomous driving, ADAS, electrification, passenger comfort, and entertainment, more computing power, functional safety, and cybersecurity are required.
To achieve this, intelligent software platforms that fit the system development flow and advanced MCUs such as the AURIX TC4x are essential elements.
Siemens' embedded software team and Infineon worked with key customer BMW to develop embedded ECU (Electronic Control Unit) software.
Also, Siemens and OEM They collaborated to implement a cloud-based software development process for SDV using Siemens' advanced embedded software development tools.
Siemens' advanced Capital™ Embedded AR Classic software supports the market's leading MCUs with the AUTOSAR software platform.
This software implements the multicore, functional safety and cybersecurity capabilities of the AURIX TC4x.
It also streamlines OEM approval processes by providing feature-rich software with pre-validated evidence for functional safety and cybersecurity.
MCUs like the AURIX TC4x are key components in the automotive industry, controlling and monitoring a wide range of systems within a car, including the electric powertrain, battery management, ADAS, radar, and chassis.
Infineon’s AURIX TC4x MCUs combine the latest trends in virtualization, AI-based modeling, functional safety, cybersecurity and network functions with power and performance improvements. This paves the way for new E/E architectures and the next generation of SDVs.
“Our collaboration with Infineon has been very successful for many years, providing leading automotive customers with advanced MCUs running AUTOSAR-based embedded software to drive the future of the SDV industry,” said Frances Evans, Senior Vice President, Lifecycle Collaboration Software, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “The first AURIX TC4x implementation demonstrates how a more integrated, holistic approach can help the SDV industry deliver the advanced capabilities their customers demand,” he said.
“Infineon has been contributing to the AUTOSAR standard since 2004 and offers AUTOSAR solutions for our MCU portfolio such as the AURIX TC4x,” said Thomas Schneid, Director Software, Partnerships and Ecosystem Management at Infineon. “Our collaboration with Siemens focuses on offering advanced MCUs with AUTOSAR-based embedded software, strengthening OEMs’ ability to drive the future of SDV.”
