Control of various systems such as motion control, ADAS, and chassis
Infineon Technologies AG (Korea CEO Seung-Soo Lee) has launched a new high-performance MCU to control and monitor various automotive systems, including vehicle motion control, advanced driver assistance systems, and chassis, laying the foundation for the next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV).
Infineon today announced the launch of the AURIX™ TC4Dx microcontroller (MCU), the first product in the latest AURIX TC4x family.
Based on 28nm technology, delivering enhanced performance and high-speed connectivity, the AURIX TC4Dx combines power and performance enhancements with the latest trends in virtualization, artificial intelligence, functional safety, cybersecurity and networking capabilities, paving the way for new electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures and next-generation software-defined vehicles.
MCUs like the AURIX TC4Dx are essential for controlling and monitoring a wide range of automotive systems, including vehicle motion control, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and chassis.
“Microcontrollers like the new AURIX TC4Dx are the backbone of software-defined vehicles and are essential for further improving vehicle performance, safety and convenience,” said Thomas Boehm, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Automotive Microcontrollers at Infineon. “AURIX TC4Dx will contribute to secure processing performance and efficiency, enabling customers to benefit from faster time to market and reduced total system cost,” he said.
The AURIX TC4Dx features an advanced multicore architecture with the new 500MHz TriCore™ with six cores, all with lock-step for highest functional safety performance.
It provides an innovative platform for developing embedded AI-based use cases such as motor control, battery management systems, and vehicle motion control through the parallel processing unit (PPU).
These MCUs are supported by a powerful software ecosystem and include networking accelerators that enhance Ethernet and CAN communications, as well as advanced interfaces such as 5 Gbit/s Ethernet, PCIe, 10Base-T1S, and CAN-XL.
This enhanced network throughput and connectivity provides customers with the performance and flexibility they need to implement E/E architectures.
Our holistic approach to functional safety meets the highest level of functional safety requirements according to ISO26262 ASIL-D.
AURIX TC4Dx meets the latest cybersecurity standards according to ISO/SAE21434, including support for post-quantum cryptography.
The AURIX TC4Dx is available now for sampling and is planned to be in series production in 2025. For more information, please visit www.infineon.com/aurixTC4x.
