Establishing a communications consortium with Geo Platform (JLP)
Indian technology company Jio Platforms, along with AMD, Cisco and Nokia, announced plans to build an open telecom AI platform at Mobile World Congress 2025 on Thursday, with the aim of helping telecoms and service providers achieve efficiency, security and monetization with AI-based solutions.
The 'Telco AI Platform' is a new central intelligence layer for communications and digital services built by experts from various fields such as △RAN △routing △AI data center △security and communications. The multi-domain intelligence framework integrates AI and automation into all layers of network operations.
The AI platform optimizes functions and performance by leveraging open APIs, independent of LLM. We implement end-to-end intelligence for network management and operations by leveraging agent AI and leveraging large-scale language models (LLMs), domain-specific small-scale language models (SLMs), and non-generative AI machine learning techniques.
“We are building a multi-modal, multi-domain orchestration workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence and security in the telecom industry by leveraging agent AI across all layers of the telecom industry,” said Matteo Oommen, CEO, Reliance Jio Group. “Through collaboration with AMD, Cisco and Nokia, Jio is evolving our open telecom AI platform to transform networks into self-optimizing, customer-aware ecosystems.”
“The initiative also goes beyond automation to support AI-powered autonomous networks that adapt in real time, improve user experiences, and create new services and revenue opportunities across the digital ecosystem,” it said.
“Service providers can build scalable networks by leveraging our broad portfolio of high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive compute solutions,” said Lisa Su, AMD president and CEO. “Together, we can bring the transformative benefits of AI to operators and users alike, and enable innovative services that will shape the future of communications and connectivity.”
Meanwhile, the new Open Telecom AI Platform planned by Jio Platforms, AMD, Cisco and Nokia, has Jio as its first customer and will create a replicable reference architecture and deployable solutions for the broader global service provider industry.
