Announcement of 'Content Credentials', Spreading Global Standards for Content Authenticity Verification
Cloudflare is taking a proactive approach to verifying image authenticity and protecting creators through content credentials. With this announcement, Cloudflare is committed to advancing global standards for content provenance and authenticity verification, and to leading the way in building a trustworthy digital environment through its global network.
Cloudflare announced Content Credentials, a one-click solution that makes it easy to preserve digital records of your images.
The solution helps creators receive credit for their work by attaching content credentials, such as an “ingredient list,” to images, and makes it easier for consumers to check the source and history of digital content.
Content Credentialing is based on open technology standards from the Coalition for Content Authentication and Authenticity (C2PA), and Cloudflare has also joined the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), a global community led by Adobe.
CAI has over 4,000 members worldwide and drives widespread support and adoption of content credentials.
“The future of the internet depends on trust and authenticity,” said Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare. “By integrating content credentials across Cloudflare’s global network, we will help media and news organizations verify the authenticity of their content and protect their ownership.”
“Cloudflare’s introduction of Content Credentials is critical in the era of generative AI and deepfakes, helping to strengthen the integrity of digital content and protect creators’ copyrights,” said Andy Parsons, senior director of Adobe Content Credentials.
Now Cloudflare ImageUsers can safely preserve metadata by selecting the ‘Preserve Content Credentials’ option with one click.
When images are resized or transformed, they are recorded using public key cryptography, and their digital history can be verified using Adobe's content authenticity check tool.
