Limited edition of 1,000 'KB Kookmin Sky Pass IoT Titanium Card' to be released on a first-come, first-served basis
Samsung Electronics has introduced a credit card that can check the domestic and international locations of credit cards using SmartThings Find.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 27th that it has launched an IoT credit card in collaboration with KB Kookmin Card.
Samsung Electronics' IoT credit card is based on 'SmartThings Find', which utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.
'SmartThings Find' is a specialized service that allows you to check the location of various Samsung devices, including Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and tags.
Samsung Electronics' IoT credit card has 'SmartThings Find' built-in, so if you lose your wallet containing your credit card or forget where you stored it, you can use the SmartThings Find service to check the domestic and international location of your credit card.
For example, if you lose your wallet or bag containing your IoT credit card while traveling domestically or internationally, you can check its location.
You can check the last location where the Galaxy smartphone was disconnected from BLE communication or the location history for the past 7 days.
You can also use your IoT credit card to find your smartphone. If you set the 'Find and Notification' function in the SmartThings Find service, you can ring your smartphone's ringtone by pressing the bottom button of the IoT credit card.
In addition, △If you move away from the Galaxy smartphone connected to the IoT credit card, the app will send a push notification, and △You can conveniently check the location of the card by voice using Bixby.
The IoT credit card can be charged using a smartphone wireless charger, and can be used for approximately 30 days on a single charge.
The first IoT credit card to be launched in Korea by Samsung Electronics and KB Kookmin Card is the 'KB Kookmin SkyPass IoT Titanium Card' of the American Express (Amex) brand, and only 1,000 cards will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications for issuance can be submitted from the 27th on the KB Kookmin Card website and the KB Pay app.
Samsung Electronics Vice President Park Chan-woo said, “We will expand the application of the SmartThings Find platform to partner products that require location confirmation, such as IoT credit cards,” and “Through continued partnerships, we will expand the ecosystem of SmartThings Find application technologies and strengthen meaningful connection experiences and benefits for customers.”
Last September, Samsung Electronics, KB Kookmin Card, and American Express signed a business agreement (MOU) for the launch of IoT cards.
