Optimized for immersive gaming, UHD streaming, and low-latency cloud computing

Keysight Technologies has achieved 12Gbps 5G data throughput, paving the way for more powerful 5G experiences.

Keysight, a leading global provider of leading edge computing, announced today that it has collaborated with MediaTek to achieve 5G Internet Protocol (IP) data throughput of nearly 12 Gbps in a lab environment using MediaTek’s new NR-DC (new NR-DC) devices and Keysight’s network emulation solutions.

This achievement is a significant milestone in the advancement of 5G technology, demonstrating powerful performance for next-generation applications such as immersive gaming, ultra-high-definition (UHD) streaming, and low-latency cloud computing.

The increased speed of 5G technology is a key factor in improving user experience as well as promoting the development of high-performance applications such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR).

To achieve this, manufacturers and service providers must verify the stability and performance of 5G chipsets through laboratory tests, and continuously develop and optimize them to meet next-generation network requirements.

Keysight’s network emulation solutions enable device manufacturers to implement real-world 5G environments, and have been used in conjunction with MediaTek’s new NR-DC (New Radio Dual Connectivity) devices to replicate complex network scenarios in the lab.

This enables MediaTek NR-DC devices to achieve data throughput speeds of close to 12 Gbps, which will play a key role in meeting the demands of next-generation applications and enhancing industry competitiveness.

“Achieving exceptional throughput at mmWave is a significant milestone in the advancement of the 5G ecosystem,” said Dr. Hoch Huang, general manager of Wireless Systems and Partnerships at MediaTek. “Working with Keysight to demonstrate unprecedented connectivity and performance in the industry will enable us to deliver even more powerful 5G experiences to consumers and industries.”

“We are working with MediaTek to push the boundaries of 5G performance and continue to accelerate the 5G ecosystem,” said Peng Chao, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s wireless test group. “This partnership is significant in ensuring faster, more efficient communications and meeting the demands of next-generation applications.”
