Evolution of Ethernet Technology and Examination of Ethernet Physical Layer Conformance Assessment Methods
Ethernet is a computer networking technology and the most widely utilized technical standard in LANs. It defines signals and wiring at the physical layer of the OSI model, and specifies the format of MAC packets and protocols at the data link layer.
Most Ethernet technologies have been standardized under IEEE 802.3 Standard. Standardization began in the 1970s, progressing through 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds, and reaching 10/40/100 Gbps in the 2000s. Recently, standardization efforts for 200/400 Gbps and 1 Tbps Ethernet are underway. Furthermore, Ethernet is evolving into variants such as MGBASE/NBASE Ethernet and Automotive Ethernet.
This webinar includes an overview of Ethernet technology in general, along with demonstrations of conformance assessment methods for the physical layer of 10/100/1000BASE-T(X) Ethernet, which is the most widely utilized standard, and analysis software for the data link layer. Through this, it is possible to ensure reliability of both the Ethernet physical layer and protocol layer.
