STM32WB, Wireless Freedom - Bluetooth 5 + IEEE 802.15.4
The new STM32WB is a dual-core wireless microcontroller that delivers Bluetooth 5, OpenThread, and ZigBee 3.0 connectivity combined with ultra-low power performance. It integrates an Arm® Cortex®-M4 based microcontroller with full capabilities to run key applications, along with an Arm Cortex-M0+ core that can offload the main processor and operate BLE 5 and IEEE 802.15.4 wireless functions in real time.
Additionally, it can simultaneously run OpenThread and wireless protocols such as ZigBee® or proprietary protocols, providing significantly more options for IoT (Internet of Things) device connectivity.
The STM32WB is well-suited for a wide variety of IoT devices including digital home products, wearable electronics, smart lighting, building automation controllers, computer peripherals, drones, and smart sensors. It is an advanced dual-processor-based wireless chip that enhances the performance of next-generation smart connected devices. It additionally supports improved end-user experience by extending battery life while delivering new features and enhanced performance.
