Creating new revenue through AI business advancement
SK Telecom (CEO Yoo Young-sang) is building an AI infrastructure super highway and accelerating the creation of a ‘Korean AI ecosystem.’
SKT held its 41st general shareholders' meeting at the T Tower headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul on the 26th. At the general shareholders' meeting, the agenda items including approval of the 2024 financial statements, partial amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, and appointment of directors were passed as originally proposed.
SKT's 2024 consolidated financial statements were approved with sales of KRW 17.9406 trillion, up 1.9% year-on-year, and operating profit of KRW 1.8234 trillion, up 4.0%.
The dividend per share was set at 3,540 won per year, the same as the previous year, and the articles of incorporation were changed to be more shareholder-friendly so that investors can easily check the dividend.
CEO Yoo Young-sang announced the 'AI Pyramid 2.0' strategy to maximize AI performance creation through selection and focus.
This strategy segments the AI data center (DC) business into four business models: △Subscription-based cloud GPU service △Small-scale modular AI DC △Single-customer dedicated AI DC △Hyper-scale AI DC.
In addition, in the AI B2B sector, we plan to strengthen monetization through the AI B2B agent 'Adot Biz' following the existing enterprise AI and AI cloud.
In the AI B2C sector, domestic AI agent 'Adot' has established itself as the number one service in Korea with 8.9 million subscribers as of the end of February.
Additionally, we plan to expand into the global market by launching the global AI agent ‘Aster’ in the US market.
SKT plans to contribute to building a Korean AI ecosystem by consolidating SK Group's AI capabilities and strengthening domestic and international partnerships.
The self-developed Korean-language specialized LLM 'A.X' is expanding its scope of use as a B2B solution, and the 'A.X 4.0' model, which will be developed in the first half of the year, is expected to add competitiveness by including conversation and multimodal functions.
In addition, SKT is strengthening its partnerships with global AI companies such as Entropic by cooperating with the global telco AI alliance including Deutsche Telekom and Softbank.
In Korea, we plan to continuously enhance the cooperative system through joint development of business and technology through the 'K-AI Alliance'.
CEO Yoo Young-sang said, “In 2025, SK Telecom will create new revenue through the advancement of AI business and maximize shareholder value and corporate value,” and “We will also take the lead in creating a ‘Korean AI ecosystem.’”
