"Measures to strengthen future competitiveness of semiconductors"

HBM No. 2, Samsung Semiconductor's outlook is shrouded in fog due to uncertainties in semiconductor performance caused by the economic downturn. Amid the growing sense of crisis at Samsung Semiconductor, an unprecedented personnel change was made to refresh the internal atmosphere.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it had appointed Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, head of the Future Business Planning Division, as head of the DS Division and President Kyung Kyung-hyun, head of the DS Division, as head of the Future Business Planning Division.

Samsung Electronics stated, "This personnel change is a preemptive measure to improve the internal and external atmosphere and strengthen the future competitiveness of semiconductors in an uncertain global management environment."

President Kyung-Hyun Kyung, who was serving as the CEO and head of the DS division at Samsung Electronics and the president of SAIT, has stepped down from his position as head of the DS division and taken on the position of head of Samsung Electronics' Future Business Planning Division.

Instead, Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun was appointed as the head of the DS division from the head of the Future Business Planning Division, and will lead Samsung’s semiconductor business. Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, who was newly appointed as the head of the DS division, joined Samsung Electronics’ Memory Division in 2000 and worked in DRAM/Flash development and strategic marketing before serving as the head of the Memory Division in 2014. In 2017, he moved to SDI and served as CEO of SDI. This year, he was appointed as the head of Samsung Electronics' Future Business Planning Division, where he was responsible for discovering future growth engines for Samsung Electronics and its affiliates.

Samsung Electronics said, "Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun played a key role in growing Samsung Electronics' memory semiconductor and battery businesses to global leaders, and we expect him to overcome the semiconductor crisis based on the abundant management know-how he has accumulated."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is currently focusing on testing to supply its 5th generation HBM3e products to Nvidia. Samsung Memory is in a state of crisis as it is losing HBM leadership after losing the HBM market to SK Hynix.
