MOTIX™ TLE9189 Provides Enhanced Functionality for Intelligent Motor Control

Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-Soo Lee) is leading the way in by-wire solutions with the launch of a new 3-phase gate driver IC for automotive use.

Infineon has introduced the new MOTIX™ TLE9189 gate driver IC for automotive 12 V brushless DC (BLDC) motor applications.

This product provides both safety and efficiency in a by-wire solution including braking systems and electric power steering.

The newly launched TLE9189 gate driver IC is AEC Q100 Grade 0 and ISO 26262 (ASIL D) certified and is particularly suitable for brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems.

“The TLE9189 is the fourth generation of our automotive 3-phase smart gate driver IC, which offers enhanced features for intelligent motor control,” said Andreas Dohl, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infineon’s Smart Power Division. “It delivers high reliability and safety that meet our customers’ demands for by-wire solutions.”

The MOTIX TLE9189 is available in two packages: TQFP-48 (9x9mm²) and VQFN-48 (7x7mm²) and is optimized for 12V automotive battery systems with a supply voltage range of 4.2V to 36V.

This diThe VICE offers high flexibility and granularity by applying a motor control concept including PWM inputs and integrated current sense amplifiers, and integrates various monitoring and diagnostic functions.

Additionally, Infineon's adaptive MOSFET control function improves EMC performance, achieves target switching times, and reduces power loss.

Infineon provides comprehensive technical documentation and application notes to support customers' design process, and simulation models and complex device drivers will also be available upon request.

With this launch, Infineon addresses the demand for by-wire solutions and further enhances the reliability and safety of motor control designs.
