LG Electronics Acquires Strategic Partner Status with AUTOSAR, International Standards Body for Automotive Software

LG Electronics has acquired Strategic Partner status with AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System Architecture), an international standards body in the automotive component software field, becoming the first domestic company to do so.
LG Electronics acquired Premium Partner status upon joining AUTOSAR in 2017 and has been promoted to a higher tier in recognition of its leading role in developing AUTOSAR's standard platform.

AUTOSAR publishes standard specifications that enable integrated management of various software related to automotive electrical components. Partner companies participating in standards development are classified into five tiers according to their authority: Core, Strategic, Premium, Development, and Associate.
AUTOSAR introduced the Strategic Partner tier this year to shorten the development schedule for standard specifications and platforms and to enhance software quality. Strategic Partners gain authority to lead decision-making not only in establishing standard specifications but also in organizational operations. Only LG Electronics and Denso, a Japanese automotive parts company, have acquired Strategic Partner status.
As the importance of software platforms in the automotive sector has increased recently, LG Electronics continues strategic cooperation with global companies including various automakers, chip manufacturers, and IT service providers (HERE, Luxoft). The company also plans to apply webOS Auto, an open source-based vehicle platform, to the infotainment field of next-generation vehicles such as autonomous driving and connected cars.
Based on the AUTOSAR Strategic Partnership acquired this time and webOS Auto, LG Electronics is pursuing a strategy to expand its influence as a global leader in next-generation automotive software.
Hong Sung-pyo, Senior Executive of LG Electronics' Software Center, stated, "We have assumed a leading role in developing software standards for next-generation vehicles," adding "From an open innovation perspective, we will strengthen our Tier-1 supplier capabilities through diverse collaborations with global companies across various sectors."

Universal Robots will expand its collaboration with companies ranging from large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2019.
Jørgen von Hollen, President of Universal Robots, visited Hyundai Motor Company's Uiwang Research Institute during his stay in Korea. Hollen's visit was made to tour Hyundai Motor Company's electrical system concentrated inspection system and hold meetings with relevant personnel. During the meeting that day, both companies agreed to strengthen their close cooperation going forward and jointly develop flexible automation systems. TI Unveils Multi-Axis Coreless Current Sensor TMCS2100-Q1 for HEV/EV Traction Inverters
Texas Instruments has unveiled the TMCS2100-Q1, a multi-axis coreless Hall-effect current sensor for HEV and EV traction inverters. By simultaneously measuring horizontal and vertical magnetic fields through multi-axis sensing technology, it achieves up to 20 times higher accuracy compared to conventional single-axis sensors, while the busbar-unmodified design provides mechanical design flexibility.
