| Expanding 5G Content Areas into Education Sector

LG U+ announced on the 23rd that it will launch 'Edutech' business, incorporating 5G technology into educational services, in partnership with Icecream Media and EBS.

Edutech is a term combining education and technology. It refers to next-generation education utilizing ICT such as 5G, big data, and AI.
The three companies gathered at LG U+ Yongsan headquarters on the 23rd, signed an MOU to this effect, and agreed to establish and operate working-level committees and formulate detailed cooperation measures. Specifically, they plan to pursue organic cooperation regarding ▲joint business initiatives related to edutech ▲mutual cooperation for the advancement of future education.

As a result, LG U+ has expanded the scope of 5G technology applications into the education sector and will be able to concentrate further capacity on 5G content business such as U+ Pro Baseball, Golf, Idol Live, and U+ AR, VR, Games. EBS and Icecream Media are establishing a foundation to service high-quality educational content based on next-generation media platforms.

LG U+ anticipates that new convergence services will emerge in adjacent industries as well as various sectors through 5G content expansion. The company plans to respond swiftly to the rapidly growing domestic edutech market through this MOU, which marks the beginning of collaboration between telecommunications, education, and platforms.

Choi Joo-sik, Senior Executive Vice President of LG U+ Corporate Division, said, "In addition to webtoons, performances, games, and films, we will introduce various services so that LG U+'s differentiated 5G content can be expanded in areas such as education."

Park Ki-seok, CEO of Icecream Media, stated, "This is an opportunity for three companies with expertise in respective fields—5G communications, educational content, and platforms—to plan innovative edutech business models through organic cooperation and apply them in practice," and added, "Since we have been the first to successfully commercialize 5G globally, nurturing fourth industrial revolution talent to lead the global era is also a task that we must address as an edutech company."

Kim Myung-joong, President of EBS, said, "Through this business agreement, we hope that infrastructure for future education will be established to effectively utilize various immersive content in educational settings in line with 5G commercialization," and added, "Through collaboration with LG U+, a professional information and communications company, and Icecream Media, a professional educational content company, EBS will continue to implement leading edutech services."
