| SKT, Statistics Korea Sign MoU on Mobile Telecommunications Big Data
| Linking Statistics Korea Public Big Data with SKT Mobile Information
| Plan to Contribute to Solving Social Issues including Employment and Housing

SK Telecom announced on the 16th that it has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with Statistics Korea on developing statistics and improving quality based on mobile telecommunications big data.
Both organizations held the agreement ceremony at SK Telecom's headquarters on Eulji-ro in Seoul and agreed to subsequently link the population and household-related public big data held by Statistics Korea with SK Telecom's mobile information to produce more accurate policy statistics.

Through this MoU, SK Telecom and Statistics Korea plan to enhance the precision of national statistics based on mobile phone location data and develop new statistics on topics directly linked to quality of life such as employment and housing, with active application toward solving social issues.

SK Telecom and Statistics Korea previously conducted a pilot project last year analyzing mobile users' movement-related big data to identify commute times in the metropolitan area and migration status of metropolitan commuters, and through this cooperation, they expect more in-depth and diverse analyses to become possible.

Eun Soon-hyun, Director of the Statistics Data Hub Division at Statistics Korea, stated, "The cooperation between Statistics Korea and SK Telecom will add meaning and value to national statistics," and added, "We expect that new statistics development utilizing big data will significantly contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens."

Jang Hong-sung, Head of SK Telecom's IoT/Data Business Division, said, "We will endeavor to contribute to improving national statistics quality and reducing budgets through SK Telecom's mobile big data and analytics capabilities, and furthermore, to improve citizens' lives and create social value."
