Anyang City partners with SKT to ensure smooth downtown traffic.

SK Telecom announced on the 8th that it signed a business agreement with Anyang City on the 6th for cooperation in the 5G-based mobility sector and the creation of a smart city.

Through this agreement, both parties agreed to cooperate on ▲establishing a 5G autonomous driving and traffic signal linkage testbed ▲linking T Map Parking with Anyang City public parking lot information ▲discovering and fostering small and medium-sized venture companies in Anyang City.

Anyang City is installing a real-time signal information collection testbed at major intersections to improve the traffic signal system and integrating it with the 'Tmap' platform. This is expected to enhance services, such as improving the accuracy of Tmap's arrival time predictions.

In addition, Anyang City's public parking lot information is updated in real-time on the 'T Map Parking' app. Customers can check parking-related information such as purchasing parking tickets, checking real-time billing details based on usage time, advance settlement, and automatic payment through the T Map Parking app.

SKT plans to cooperate with Anyang City's autonomous driving project by providing Anyang City with 5G-based mobility-related technologies such as HD maps and 5G ADAS.

Both parties also agreed to cooperate in discovering and nurturing small and medium-sized venture companies in the 5G and mobility sectors in Anyang City. SKT plans to operate the 'True Innovation Accelerator' program, which selects and collaborates with startups, in conjunction with Anyang City.

“We look forward to further revitalizing the 5G and mobility ecosystem through this cooperation with Anyang City,” said Yoo Woong-hwan, Head of SKT’s SV Innovation Center. “SKT plans to strive to secure service competitiveness with business partners in various areas.”

Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho stated, “Through this cooperation, we will lay the foundation for creating a smart city ecosystem that integrates public and private services,” adding, “We will do our utmost to build a smart and happy city that satisfies citizens.”
