Improved fuel efficiency with 800-volt technology used in the Porsche Taycan


ANSYS is co-supporting Porsche’s TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and the 2019-2020 ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
Through collaboration, Porsche Motorsport engineers are using Ansys system-level simulation solutions to build an advanced electric powertrain to improve the energy efficiency of Porsche's first all-electric racing car, the Porsche 99X Electric.

Accelerating at ultra-high speeds on challenging driving courses within the city center of a major metropolis places a tremendous impact on the Porsche 99X Electric's powertrain, but by customizing the powertrain, subsystems, and components, energy efficiency and vehicle performance can be maximized simultaneously from the starting line to the finish line.

Ansys system-level solutions support the Porsche 99X Electric in gaining a competitive edge through the production of the next-generation Porsche E-Performance (Porsche 99X Electric) powertrain. Although standardized chassis and battery regulations already exist, through this solution, Porsche plans to significantly reduce losses in motors and power electronics by providing the highest level of energy efficiency to each component, including subsystems.

Through this, Porsche plans to push the boundaries of engineering and lead a new era of commercial e-mobility vehicles by utilizing the powertrain of the Porsche 99X Electric after proving its excellence on the track.

Currently, the 800-volt technology of the Porsche 99X Electric is being used in the production of the all-electric Porsche Taycan series.
