igus Korea will hold a completion ceremony for the new igus building located in Songdo International City, Incheon on December 13.
About 500,000 people, including the head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone and construction companies, are expected to attend the completion ceremony, and full-scale work will begin on December 23.

The new building, which began construction last March, has a total floor area of 6,941.97㎡ (2,080 pyeong). In order to faithfully reproduce the characteristics of the igus Cologne headquarters in Germany, all the walls in the office were removed and glass windows were installed inside. The entire building is divided into two sections, with offices located on the 2nd and 3rd floors on the left, and the 1st and 2nd floors on the right designed as a factory. The yellow steel towers that support each building block and point toward the sky reflect the solar system of igus.

Frank Blase, CEO of igus, who visited Korea to celebrate the completion of igus Korea, said, “Just as the sun is the source of all things, providing light, heat, and energy, for igus, all projects and ideas start from our customers.” He added, “We designed the building so that all teams and leaders, regardless of rank, can collaborate freely, with our customers at the center.”

The igus headquarters in Cologne, Germany, was designed by world-renowned architect Nicholas Grimshaw in 1988 and was designed to be easily expandable to accommodate rapid growth and change. Having expanded four times since 1994, igus GmbH operates the industry’s largest testing facility for all industrial products, including bearings, energy chains, and cables, with a test room area of 3,800 ㎥ (3,000 pyeong).
