Telenor Connection Strengthens IoT Business in Korea
Building a platform capable of connecting to IoT networks anywhere
Agreement with Gangwon Province, Dipico, Edison Motors, and Motrex


Telenor Connection held a press conference at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas Hotel in Samseong-dong, Seoul on the 17th and announced that it is strengthening its domestic IoT business by collaborating with domestic companies in various fields.

Key executives from Telenor Connection, including CEO Mats Lundquist, APAC CSO Seth Ryding, and APAC Business Development Director Richard Gyimesi, attended the meeting.

Those who visited Korea as a high-level delegation led by Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Sweden It will also participate in the 'Innovation Startup Tour Program' hosted by the Swedish Trade and Investment Office in Korea for three days from the 17th to the 19th.

Telenor Connection, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is a company that designs, operates, and provides IoT solutions, and currently collaborates with over 400 telecommunications carriers in more than 180 countries worldwide. It has recently established a branch office in Korea and is expanding its business operations in earnest.

Telenor Connections provides customers with 'Managed Connectivity,' a means to manage IoT connectivity across multiple countries, and an AWS-based 'Managed IoT Cloud.'

With managed connectivity, customers can receive expert support 365 days a year and connect to the company's IoT network from anywhere in the world. In addition, the managed IoT cloud provides customers with tools to collect, store, and analyze data generated from connected devices.

Telenor Connection's managed IoT cloud is available as a standalone platform with a ready-to-use UI and can also be integrated with proprietary applications through developer-friendly APIs.

On the 16th, Telenor Connection also signed a commercialization agreement for the global connected car business with MOTREX, a domestic automotive infotainment specialist. Through this agreement, Motrex plans to provide various connected car solutions and vehicle management services.

Lee Hyung-hwan, CEO of Motrex, stated, “Through the contract with Telenor Connection, Motrex will advance its existing automotive infotainment business,” adding, “We will expand our terminal business beyond terminal supply to include the infrastructure and terminals necessary for connected car services, electric vehicle control, and autonomous vehicle control.”

In addition, following a press conference on the 17th, Telenor Connection signed a four-party MOU with Gangwon Province, Dipico, and Edison Motors to explore overseas sales channels for electric vehicles produced in Gangwon Province. Through this agreement, the four companies plan to cooperate on the connected car business and overseas marketing of electric vehicles to be produced in Gangwon Province.

Meanwhile, Telenor Connection has transportation and logistics companies such as the Husqvarna Group, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Volvo, Scania, and CIMC High-Tech as its major clients.
