KT SAT Signs MVSAT Supply Contract with H-Line Shipping
Published2015.12.21 15:56KT SAT signed a supply contract for Maritime VSAT (MVSAT) with H-Line Shipping on the 18th at H-Line Shipping's headquarters located in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The vessels targeted for MVSAT supply include 31 bulk carriers and 4 LNG carriers, with service to be provided sequentially starting next year across 35 vessels. KT SAT's MVSAT service leverages both its own satellite Mugunghwa-5 and global satellite operator networks, making it advantageous as it enables unlimited ultra-high-speed communication anywhere in the world.
H-Line Shipping is South Korea's largest dedicated shipping company specializing in the transport of raw materials such as iron ore and energy resources. With MVSAT deployment, H-Line Shipping plans to establish a Smart Fleet by applying energy management solutions and location information monitoring solutions to its vessels.
Young-Joon Lee, CEO of H-Line Shipping, stated, "Through MVSAT implementation, we will lead the way in improving crew welfare by providing unlimited internet environment onboard."
Jae-Gook Song, CEO of KT SAT, said, "This contract will serve as a milestone for transitioning from 'Inmarsat FB,' where vessels use limited data due to communication costs, to 'MVSAT,' our unlimited high-speed maritime satellite internet service at the current rate level. We will do our utmost to enhance the competitiveness of Korean shipping companies through improved service quality and to improve the maritime communication environment."
Meanwhile, KT SAT began construction of LTE small base stations utilizing satellites on 21 government fisheries guidance vessels in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries starting from the 8th. Through this initiative, the company is working to enable rapid response in cases of maritime emergencies and to improve crew welfare and the maritime communication environment through onboard CCTV and remote medical support.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK Telecom announced that it applied an AI-based network operation system for the first time at a large-scale K-pop concert held in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on March 21st, managing communication quality throughout the event. Mobile data usage during the three hours before and after the concert reached 12.15TB, approximately doubling compared to the same time slot the previous weekend. SK Telecom monitored traffic using the AI system 'A-One' in five-minute and 50-meter units to respond to potential overload situations, while also operating temporary communication facilities and on-site personnel in parallel. This case is interpreted as confirmation of the practical applicability of AI-based autonomous network operation in an environment where demand from dense events and foreign users increases simultaneously.

ETRI Develops 200Gbps Photodetector… Initiates Localization of Optical Receivers for AI Data Centers
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has developed a photodetector device that processes optical signals of approximately 200Gbps per channel for the first time in Korea. This device is a component that converts optical signals into electrical signals and determines the reception performance of AI data centers and 5G/6G communication networks. ETRI achieved bandwidth of 70GHz or higher and optical responsivity of 0.75A/W or higher, and integrated an indium phosphide lens on the rear of the chip to enhance optical reception efficiency and alignment convenience. The technology was presented at OECC 2025 and was recently published in the international academic journal 'Optics Express'.

SKT and Ericsson Expand Joint Research on AI Networks… Preparing for 6G Beyond 5G Advancement
SK Telecom and Ericsson are expanding AI-based mobile network collaboration.
