Launch of Environmentally Sealed Connectors and Switches Ideal for Harsh Environment Applications

Element14 is expanding its existing portfolio of over 200,000 connector types by launching Bulgin's new Buccaneer® 7000 series and piezo switches, leading the market in power, protection, and environmentally sealed products. The Buccaneer dust-proof and waterproof connector series, available in plastic and metal materials, is suitable for main power applications in harsh environments such as industrial equipment and building automation.

The Buccaneer® 7000 series, manufactured in metal and plastic, complies with IP66, IP68, and IP69K standards and employs a quick-turn locking mechanism that enables robust and rapid coupling even in harsh environments. Additionally, while offering superior performance compared to standard Buccaneer connectors and featuring a smaller size than the 900 series, it provides a mechanism requiring only a quarter turn or less to lock, which is superior to conventional screw locking mechanisms.

Available in two versions—a robust metal version providing EMI protection and a lightweight, self-extinguishing thermoplastic resin version suitable for prolonged outdoor use—both comply with IP66, IP68, and IP69K standards, which are ideal for harsh environments where dust or water ingress could critically impact connection integrity.

Additionally, Bulgin piezo switches rated IP68 and IP69K are added to the high-end and breakage-resistant piezo switch product line. Available in aluminum or stainless steel versions, they feature no moving parts and are designed with extreme resilience to withstand millions of actuations, enabling long-term use even in extremely harsh environments. They are suitable for various fields including heavy industry, electronics, public transportation, military, marine, and food processing.

The piezo switches deliver stable performance under physical impact and extreme temperatures ranging from -40 to +85 °C thanks to their robust monolithic construction. With excellent weather resistance and waterproofing through environmental sealing, they offer a wide selection with hole diameters of 16, 19, and 22 mm. They also support rated voltages and currents of up to 24V and 1A, and provide instantaneous locking functionality.
