LG Electronics Adopts Qualcomm Codec in Bluetooth Headset

LG Electronics will unveil a new neckband-type Bluetooth headset product 'Tone Plus (HBS-1100)' at the 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016' held this month in Barcelona, Spain.
The 'Tone Plus (HBS-1100)' delivers outstanding sound quality through a sound technology partnership with 'Harman Kardon,' an audio equipment specialist. In particular, it has achieved 'Harman/Kardon Platinum,' the highest sound grade officially certified by Harman Kardon, receiving recognition for the highest level of sound quality.
Users can wirelessly receive 24-bit audio without loss, allowing them to enjoy hi-fi audio that surpasses CD quality (16-bit). This is made possible because LG Electronics is the first in the Bluetooth headset sector to adopt the 'Qualcomm aptX™ HD' audio codec in this product.
The 'Tone Plus (HBS-1100)' adopts a 'Balanced Armature Unit' module, which is primarily used in high-end wired earphones, implementing sound faithful to the original.
The product completes a premium design with a metal body and earphones. LG Electronics finished both front sides of the product body with curved metal processed using a 'diamond cutting' technique. Additionally, the product's earphone exterior is finished in metal, delivering more dimensional sound.
'Voice Command'
Answer or Reject Calls Without Button Operation
The 'Tone Plus (HBS-1100)' adds a 'Voice Command' function that allows users to answer or reject calls by voice without button operation. It is equipped with dual microphones with noise cancellation capability, enabling clear voice calls even in high-noise environments such as subway commutes.
LG Electronics plans to sequentially launch this product in global markets starting with the United States in March, followed by Korea, Europe, Central and South America, and Asia. The 'Tone Plus (HBS-1100)' is available in four colors: black, gold, silver, and gray.
Park Hyung-woo, Executive Vice President of LG Electronics' IPD BD Division, stated, "The Tone Plus series is a product that concentrates premium sound technology expertise and will deliver a new dimension of sound experience, transcending the limitations of Bluetooth headsets. Going forward, we will further solidify our market leadership by leading with differentiated sound performance and design," he emphasized.
