Cybersecurity company Symantec released the 21st Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR), which analyzes major cybercrime and security threat trends in 2015.

This Symantec report presents security threat trends and forecasts by analyzing security big data collected from 63.8 million sensors installed in 157 countries worldwide through Symantec's 'Global Intelligence Network'.



According to the report, the major security threat trends for 2015 included: specialization of cybercrime groups, a record high number of zero-day vulnerabilities, an increase in concentrated targeted attacks, larger scale data leakage incidents, a 35% increase in crypto ransomware, three out of four websites at risk, increased mobile security threats, and an increase in consumer fraud scams disguised as technical support.

Symantec Korea CTO Yoon Kwang-taek added, “Cybercrime groups are expected to rapidly expand their attack targets into new areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).”
