The DisplayPort Patent Portfolio License is provided for the convenience of DisplayPort users, allowing users to acquire usage rights by consolidating multiple essential patents held by various patent holders into a single license, rather than negotiating separately with each license holder.



MPEG LA's objective is to provide worldwide accessibility to as many DisplayPort essential intellectual properties as possible to benefit patent users. MPEG LA encourages any company holding patents essential to the DisplayPort standard to submit their patents for evaluation by MPEG LA patent experts, and patents recognized as significant through evaluation are included in the license list.

Currently, patent holders included in MPEG LA's DisplayPort Patent Portfolio License are Hitachi Maxell, Ltd., Koninklijke Philips N.V., Lattice Semiconductor Corporation, Rambus Inc., and Sony Corporation.
