STU-430V, supports handwritten electronic signature capture function

Wacom, a tablet specialist, has released a new signing pad, the STU-430V, which supports handwritten electronic signature capture in a virtual desktop environment. The product can be installed in a server environment of various terminals, allowing more users to utilize the signing pad with Wacom’s leading technology.

The STU-430V supports both standard USB connections and USB-to-virtual serial connections. It is designed to support virtual desktop environments, including Citrix v6.5, by leveraging the virtual COM port connection over USB. It mimics a serial connection, but allows direct connection to a client terminal via a physical USB connection. If the user does not require virtual serial mode, such as Citrix v7.6.3 (or later), the STU-430V will be configured for standard USB connections.

“Over the past decade, the way companies work has changed dramatically across a wide range of fields,” said Shigeki Komiyama, Vice President of Wacom Business Solutions. “In particular, diverse and differentiated terminal server environments are being established for corporate operations, which brings security and regulations, cost reduction, and operational convenience,” he said. “Demand for signature collection for electronic documents has been increasing recently, and the STU-430V will be able to meet the requirements in this paperless environment.”

The new STU-430V features a 4.5-inch monochrome LCD display and soft buttons that provide ample space for signing. It is also designed with a low, flat surface for easy signing, and is made of scratch-resistant tempered glass for enhanced durability.

Wacom provides users with a more natural writing experience with its 'cordless and battery-free pen technology' that does not require a separate battery or power cord.

The STU-430V also offers 1024 pressure sensitivity levels to capture the pressure profile of an individual’s signature, which is part of an individual’s biometric profile when signing. It includes state-of-the-art encryption to ensure that signatures are more securely protected during transactions, and each device is assigned a unique ID to accurately identify the device on which a particular individual’s signature was used.

The launch of the STU-430V strengthens Wacom’s signature pad lineup (STU-300B, STU-430, STU-530), and the entire lineup now supports Citrix v7.6.3 (and later versions). The STU-430V supports older versions of Citrix and other terminal server environments.

Wacom Signature SDK (Software Development Kit) software and STU SDK are designed for easy integration with existing systems.
