SSD interfaces are divided into the widely used SATA and M.2 (NGFF), which is preferred for ultra-slim laptops and high-end PCs.

SATA SSDs have rapidly emerged in the storage market due to their high speeds, replacing HDDs and becoming the most commonly used type today. However, as the recent trend in the laptop market shifts toward ultra-slim designs, the use of M.2 (NGFF) interface SSDs—which boast high performance with small sizes and high speeds to match this trend—is also on the rise.

Accordingly, Daewon CTS (CEO Jung Myung-cheon), the official Korean distributor of Micron Crucial SSDs, announced that it is adding 2.5-inch SATA interface SSDs (275GB, 525GB, and 1050GB) and M.2 (NGFF) interface SSDs (275GB) to further strengthen the Micron Crucial MX300 (hereinafter Micron MX300) product lineup.

The Micron MX300, first unveiled last June, is the successor to the Micron MX200 and has announced its release after a long hiatus. Immediately after its launch, it was labeled a "premium SSD" due to its performance and quality that surpassed existing SSDs, including high capacity and industry-leading read and write speeds.

In addition, the Micron MX300 has attracted attention by utilizing 3D TLC NAND flash to achieve both high speed and high capacity simultaneously. It showcases a NAND flash never seen before through Micron's latest technology. Therefore, the popularity of the Micron MX300 is expected to be further solidified with the release of the 275GB, 525GB, and 1050GB capacities.

The newly released product has a read speed of 530MB/s and a write speed of 510MB/s, identical to the specifications of the existing Micron MX300 750GB. However, although the 275GB product has a write speed of 500MB/s, it boasts high specifications compared to competitors' products, so there seems to be no disagreement that the Micron MX300 has the highest specifications in the industry.

The Micron MX300's flagship 275GB model is the perfect SSD for consumers looking for a reasonable product. This is because it offers a lower price and practical capacity compared to the previously released 750GB model. In addition, 525GB and 1050GB capacities, befitting a high-capacity SSD, are also being released. With this, the Micron MX300 effectively forms a product line that reflects the diverse needs of consumers.

New interface models have also been added. M.2 (NGFF) SSDs, which have recently been rapidly gaining popularity due to their small size and high speed, are joining the Micron MX300 lineup. M.2 (NGFF) SSDs are an interface that can be used in everything from laptops to mini PCs due to their small slot size. It is expected to be a product that will breathe vitality into the laptop market, which is currently shifting toward ultra-slim designs, and the gaming PC market, which has been revitalized by the recent release of games such as Overwatch.

The diversification of Micron's MX300 products is expected to be a good opportunity to secure a favorable position in the SSD market, which is recently shifting toward 3D NAND. It is analyzed that by introducing a variety of 3D NAND products ranging in capacity from 275GB to 1050GB, one step ahead of competitors including Samsung Electronics, Intel, and Toshiba, the company will be able to solidify its market share.
