Implementation of Low-to-Medium Power IGBT and MOSFET Bufferless Direct Drive in Microcontrollers

Toshiba Corporation’s Storage & Electronic Devices Solutions Company announced the release of a small-package low-input current drive, rail-to-rail output, gate drive optocoupler.

This product is a solution for implementing low-to-medium power IGBT and MOSFET bufferless direct drivers in microcontrollers. Three new products (TLP5771, TLP5772, TLP5774) are being released with the announcement.

These new optocouplers, with a limit input current of 2mA (maximum) which is only half that of Toshiba's existing products (4mA), enable low-to-medium power IGBT and MOSFET bufferless direct drivers in microcontrollers. The new product lineup is available in three peak output currents (1A, 2.5A, and 4A), broadly meeting user requirements.

The new optocoupler features a rail-to-rail output function and reduces the operating voltage to 10V (minimum), lower than Toshiba's existing products (15V), contributing to improved system efficiency and reduced power consumption. Additionally, the SO6L package, with a height of only 2.3mm, contributes to the development of thinner and smaller systems. Key applications include servo amplifiers, small motor drives, general-purpose inverters, PV inverters, and industrial sewing machines.
