Achieved supply of 100 government agency programs

Gemalto is supplying Sealys Color in PC for polycarbonate electronic ID cards to the Directorate General of Security (DGSN) in Cameroon for the first time in Africa to help prevent document forgery and theft.

This solution, based on an innovative approach, enables Cameroonian authorities to secure irrefutable physical evidence of the identities of 20 million citizens by engraving high-definition color photos onto the surface of durable Silis cards using laser engraving. Gemalto also supports Cameroon’s comprehensive identity verification process modernization program through the Coesys registration solution, a personalized platform incorporating color laser engraving technology, and electronic identity authentication terminals.

Gemalto’s Silis Color-in-PC provides DGSN with significantly improved security benefits compared to existing solutions that simply printed photos on the card surface. In addition to tamper-proof photos, it features the ability to digitally copy the ID holder’s fingerprints stored in a microprocessor, ensuring a higher level of security through visible and invisible document security functions. The full-surface polycarbonate card surface guarantees a lifespan of at least 10 years, capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and mechanical loads.

Gemalto enables DGSN to operate a fully integrated system through comprehensive trading, maintenance, and knowledge transfer programs. Therefore, DGSN is positioned to oversee citizen information registration, the issuance of personalized electronic identity cards, and the authentication of electronic identity cards using terminals supplied through Gemalto.
