SK Telecom announced that it will begin exclusive pre-orders for the premium smartphone 'Luna S' in the 500,000-won price range starting from the 7th at authorized dealers nationwide and online mall 'T World Direct,' with official launch on the 12th. SK Telecom is responsible for product planning and distribution, Korean manufacturer TG&Company handles development, and Taiwan's Foxconn undertakes contract manufacturing.

The Luna S has a retail price of 568,700 won. With the maximum rate plan 'T Signature Master (monthly communication fee 110,000 won, including VAT),' the subsidized amount is 330,000 won, making the actual purchase price 238,700 won. With a 2-year contract, the monthly device installment is approximately 10,000 won.

SK Telecom has equipped the 'Luna S' with premium-grade design and features that were not attempted in existing mid-range smartphones in the 500,000-600,000-won range. The 'Luna S' features a full-metal unibody design in four colors: Classic Gold, Natural Silver, Rose Pink, and Frozen Blue.

The variety of colors and full-metal unibody design require high technical capability in terms of product yield, so they are only applied to a small number of premium smartphones. Pre-order subscriptions are available only in Classic Gold and Natural Silver colors, while Rose Pink and Frozen Blue will be launched in November.

The 'Luna S' was born with a full-metal body that emphasizes curved aesthetics through over 1,000 precise CNC (Computer Numerical Control) cuts at Foxconn, and harmonizes with a 2.5D curved glass screen to provide a smooth grip feel.

SK Telecom has mounted a 13-megapixel autofocus (AF) front camera module on the 'Luna S' for the first time in Korea, enhancing the selfie function. The autofocus feature automatically calculates the subject's movement and the distance between the camera and subject to achieve focus, providing convenience and high-quality results even when users take selfies in various environments. The pixel count is also among the highest among domestic premium smartphones.

The 'Luna S' boasts a fast fingerprint recognition speed of approximately 0.1 seconds. It is among the highest standards among domestic smartphones and supports secure access functionality requiring no waiting. SK Telecom has applied the international biometric authentication technology standard of the 'FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance' to the 'Luna S' fingerprint recognition feature solution, and based on this, plans to evolve it beyond the current unlock function into SK Telecom's own FinTech-related services.

In addition, the 'Luna S' is equipped with basic specifications that are comparable to premium products in the 800,000-won range and above, including ▲5.7-inch Quad HD display ▲1.8GHz octa-core ▲4GB, 64GB memory (with additional 32GB expandable storage) ▲16-megapixel rear and 13-megapixel front cameras ▲3,020mAh battery. Convenience features such as 'apt-X HD codec' for lossless audio transmission when connecting wireless Bluetooth audio devices and 'FM radio' with a simple UX (user experience) have also been added.

Through manufacturer promotions, all customers who pre-subscribe by October 11th and activate by November 11th will receive benefits totaling approximately 200,000 won, including ▲'Jabra' Bluetooth earset from the Danish premium audio brand (retail price approximately 100,000 won) ▲Spigen natural leather case (retail price approximately 30,000 won) ▲50% coverage for screen damage repair service once per year for one year (approximately 70,000 won). Additionally, customers who activate between October 12th and November 11th without pre-subscribing will also receive screen damage repair benefits.

SK Telecom has established 108 dedicated A/S (after-sales service) centers for the 'Luna S' at major locations nationwide, comparable to major domestic manufacturers, ensuring customers have no inconvenience with product after-sales management.

Kim Sung-soo, Head of SK Telecom's Smart Device Division, stated, "Just as we led the trend of cost-effective mid-range phones with the previous 'Luna,' we will once again introduce a new topic of 'practical premium' to the market."
