Acquired 'ASPICE Level 3', an automotive SW process evaluation model

LG Electronics has proven its quality competitiveness by continuously acquiring international certifications related to software (SW) capabilities in the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) field, including AV, navigation, and telematics.

LG Electronics recently obtained the 'Level 3' certification of the 'ASPICE (Automotive Software Process Improvement & Capability dEtermination)', an automotive SW development process evaluation model. 'ASPICE' is a certification model created by European automobile companies to evaluate the capabilities of parts companies in 15 SW areas, including design, verification, and management.

In addition, LG Electronics recently received re-certification for 'Level 3' of 'CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration),' an international SW/project capability evaluation model. 'CMMI', jointly developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University and the industry, determines whether to certify through document review and in-depth interviews in 22 areas including software quality, system maturity, performance capability, and risk management.

LG Electronics has significantly improved the reliability of its SW development process and quality related to vehicle infotainment components through successive certification acquisitions, thereby proving its competitiveness in securing orders through securing global-level automotive component technology.

Recently, major automobile manufacturers, especially in advanced markets, are increasingly requesting 'ASPICE' or 'CMMI' level 3 certification from parts suppliers. This is because, with the electrification of automobile parts, performance assurance of parts and SW stability have become very important.

LG Electronics has been working to strengthen its automotive component software capabilities, including by expanding SW expertise within the VC division. It plans to actively respond to the increasing technological demands of domestic and global automakers by internalizing industry-leading SW capabilities.
