Lenovo Unveils Business Notebooks with Enhanced Security Features through Biometric Authentication
Published2017.01.05 14:05Lenovo unveiled three upgraded ThinkPad X1 series models at CES 2017 held in Las Vegas, United States.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighs 1.14kg, and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon features a 14-inch IPS display in a 13-inch form factor. Additionally, it is equipped with various ports, an infrared camera, wireless connectivity and security features, physical buttons, as well as a Microsoft Precision Touchpad (PTP). Moreover, it also features a keyboard with the TrackPoint, a characteristic feature of ThinkPad.

In addition to black, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon will be available in silver color. Battery life reaches up to 15.5 hours, and it supports Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A wireless WAN and Wi-Fi certified WiGig™ options. Additionally, it is equipped with Thunderbolt 3 ports to support docking solutions via USB Type-C.
Security features have also been improved. Biometric authentication capabilities are enhanced through an infrared camera capable of facial recognition for Windows Hello login, and it features a MatchOnChip touch fingerprint sensor. FIDO-supported biometric authentication for PayPal has been added. Intel SGX ensures the user's FIDO credentials, and the Synaptics NaturalID fingerprint sensor provides enterprise-grade security through TLS 1.2 encryption. Through this, users can authenticate online FIDO-supported services such as PayPal with just their fingerprint.
ThinkPad X1 Yoga, OLED Display Equipped
The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a 14-inch notebook equipped with an OLED display. It is equipped with Intel Iris Graphics providing dedicated high-bandwidth and high-speed memory, and the rechargeable pen 'ThinkPad Pen Pro' has been redesigned with a new special synthetic rubber (elastomer) tip to significantly increase friction with glass. Improved keyboard storage functionality keeps the keyboard flat in tablet mode, enhancing convenience, and fixed key caps strengthen durability. Battery life reaches up to 15 hours.
The ThinkPad X1 Tablet is a two-in-one product. The X1 Tablet, which has passed military testing (MIL-SPEC), supports port expansion and up to 5 additional hours of battery life through its distinctive modular design, and also offers an integrated projector option for convenient presentation of content after creation.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga are scheduled to be sold from February 2017, and the ThinkPad X1 Tablet from March 2017. Domestic availability and pricing remain undetermined.
