Consuming Average Current Below 3µA, Enabling Secure Communication

Linear Technology Korea announced that it is expanding its SmartMesh IP wireless sensor network (WSN) product line to meet growing demand for industrial internet of things (IIoT) applications.

The newly expanded product line includes SmartMesh® VManager™ networking software that enables the number of nodes in a mesh network to scale to thousands. Additionally, the ultra-low-power roaming node, Blink mode, reduces the average current consumption of wireless sensor nodes to below 3µA.



The SmartMesh IP wireless mesh network, based on 6LoWPAN, provides wired network-grade reliability and ultra-low-power characteristics, enabling safe installation of battery-powered IoT sensors even in demanding environments, while maintaining battery life for over 10 years, according to the company.

The SmartMesh network provides NIST-certified security along with continuous self-optimization capabilities. The Network Manager option includes the new VManager and a cost-effective on-chip EManager for networks with 100 nodes or fewer. The VManager software securely supports over a thousand nodes in a single secure network and, since it runs on x86-based virtual machines (VMs), can be deployed anywhere with IP connectivity, including cloud environments.

SmartMesh IP products are supplied as wireless chips and pre-certified PCB modules with ready-to-use 6LoWPAN and IEEE 802.15.4e standards-based wireless mesh networking software.
