Linear Technology announced the release of a multi-cell battery monitor (product name: LTC2944 ) capable of directly measuring battery stacks from 3.6V to 60V.

It was reported that since this product does not require any level-shifting circuitry at the supply and measurement pins for connection with multi-cell voltage, total current consumption can be minimized and measurement accuracy is guaranteed.



The LTC2944 measures charge, voltage, current, and temperature with 1% accuracy, allowing for precise determination of the battery charge status. Because it can determine accurate battery usage, it is ideal for multi-cell applications such as battery backup systems for electric vehicles, electric bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, wheelchairs, and golf carts.

The LTC2944 is available in both commercial and industrial versions, with guaranteed operation over temperature ranges of 0°C to 70°C and –40°C to 85°C, respectively. It is also available in a compact, RoHS-compliant, 8-pin 3mm x 3mm DFN package. Pricing starts at $2.85 per unit for orders of 1,000.
