NXP Semiconductors announced its transition from magnetic stripe (magstripe) and low-frequency (LF) cards to secure high-frequency (HF) smart card technology.

NXP Semiconductors stated that HF smart card technology enables the use of advanced smart cards, smartphones, and wearable devices when entering and exiting rooms, and by adding mobile functions that automate equipment maintenance and access control, it enhances operational efficiency for hotel managers.



Markus Staeblein, Vice President and General Manager of NXP's Secure Mobility and Distribution Business Unit, stated, "NXP's leadership in the access and security identification market, combined with extensive insights gained through our partners and customers, provides us with a unique opportunity to observe emerging solutions and technology trends in the service industry. We believe 2017 will be a pivotal year in which the service industry increasingly adopts advanced contactless technology.
