An industrial Internet of Things (IoT) research lab was opened at NI's headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The NI Industrial IoT Lab focuses on intelligent systems that connect operational and information technologies with companies researching these systems. The lab operates with a focus on areas such as microgrid control and communication, advanced production control, and heavy equipment asset monitoring.

In addition, the NI Industrial IoT Lab plans to foster collaboration among various companies to improve interoperability. Companies in the areas of communication protocols, controller hardware, I/O components, processing components, and software platforms can collaborate at this lab to validate integrated solutions that will transform the way businesses operate. The NI Industrial IoT Lab is sponsored by Analog Devices, Avenue Alliance, Cisco, HPE, IIC, Intel, Calypso, the OPC Foundation, OSIsoft, PTC, RTI, SparkCognition, Semikron, and Viewpoint.
