High-capacity emulator and enterprise-grade operating system also launched

Mentor Graphics has announced the Veloce® Strato™, an emulation platform for design verification.

The Veloce Strato platform is Mentor's third-generation, data-center-friendly emulation platform, and is the only commercially available emulation platform that offers complete scalability across both software and hardware.

Mentor is also launching the Veloce StratoM high-capacity emulator and the Veloce Strato OS enterprise-grade operating system.

The Veloce emulation platform improves productivity in ASIC and SoC functional verification by combining verification technologies into a single comprehensive platform.

The Veloce StratoM capacity reaches 2.5BG when fully loaded, and when connecting up to six Veloce StratoM units via Veloce Strato Link, capacity can be expanded to 15BG.

Mentor anticipates that the current market requires a capacity of approximately 2.5 to 5BG, but 15BG capacity will be needed by 2021. The company explained that it is continuing development to increase emulation capacity itself in addition to the linking method.

The Veloce StratoM provides 64 slots for AVB (Advanced Verification Board), and the maximum power consumption when fully loaded is 50KW (22.7W/Mgate).

Mentor said that the Veloce StratoM focuses on effective capacity and productivity compared to its previous products. Processing speed, visibility acquisition time, and compilation time have improved, and bandwidth for integrated models has increased.

The Veloce Strato OS operating system forms the foundation of a common infrastructure for all Veloce Strato hardware and software applications. Veloce Strato OS enables Veloce Apps and Protocol Solutions to be interchangeable across hardware platforms independently of the hardware platform. The modular Veloce Strato OS is designed to serve as a common front-end for all solutions.

Eric Selosse, Vice President and General Manager of Mentor Graphics' Emulation Division, stated, "Initial response has been very positive, and the roadmap toward 15GB as defined by the Veloce Strato platform will be required in the emulation market over the next five years and beyond."
