ESL-Based Lighting Control and Location Tracking Solutions Unveiled for the First Time
Plans to Capture Global Retail Market with Advanced IoT

LG Innotek participated in 'EuroShop 2017' held in Düsseldorf, Germany, and unveiled advanced IoT solutions.

LG Innotek is accelerating its efforts to capture the global retail market through its participation in this exhibition. To this end, the company has prominently showcased innovative products including ESL (Electronic Shelf Label), lighting control, and location tracking solutions that enhance store operation efficiency, product value, and shopper convenience.

ESL is a device that displays product information such as product name, price, and capacity by attaching digital terminals such as LCD and e-paper in front of product display shelves instead of paper labels. Recently, ESL has become established as an innovative platform for retail services as various IoT elements including sensing and wireless communication are being utilized.

LG Innotek's 'ESL-Based Color Lighting Control Solution' was unveiled for the first time at this exhibition. When this solution is applied, the lighting color is optimized according to product information input to the ESL.

In addition, the company showcased an advanced location tracking solution. This solution precisely detects the location of products and shoppers within a radius of 50 centimeters. It is useful when used in large-scale stores for product location confirmation and customer traffic flow analysis.

Furthermore, a 'reflective color ESL' that can be used for approximately 5 years with a battery alone was exhibited and garnered attention from visitors. Since no power cable is required, installation is simple. The key feature is an 8-color display that eliminates the power-consuming backlight unit.

Additionally, LG Innotek showcased ESLs in various sizes that can be customized for installation according to the characteristics of each store. Visitors were presented with models ranging from a 1.5-inch model approximately half the size of a business card, to 2-inch, 4-inch, and 7-inch or larger ESLs comparable to tablet PC size.

LG Innotek is expanding supply by installing ESLs at GS Supermarket and Starfield Hanam Supershop last year. Prior to this, the company conducted pilot installations from 2015 onwards at Gumi Nonghyup Farmers Market, Daejeon Horticultural Cooperative, Pohang Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, and Jinju Central Nonghyup Local Food Mart.
