ADI Acquires OneTree Microdevices, a Specialist in Broadband GaAs and GaN Amplifiers
Published2017.04.03 09:13Analog Devices announced the acquisition of OneTree Microdevices, a privately held company located in Santa Rosa, California.
By acquiring OneTree Microdevices' GaAs and GaN amplifier portfolio, which boasts linearity, output power, and efficiency, ADI is now able to provide comprehensive signal solutions for next-generation cable access networks.
Greg Henderson, vice president of ADI's RF and Microwave Business Unit, stated, "Through the merger with OneTree Microdevices, ADI secures a unique position to address bandwidth and power efficiency challenges that cable operators face as they expand broadband internet services for residential and enterprise customers. OneTree Microdevices' expertise aligns with ADI's strategic focus on GaN technology, and further expands ADI's portfolio of high-performance RF and microwave signal chain solutions for defense and instrumentation applications."
Currently, cable operators are expanding cable network processing capabilities through next-generation architectures such as DOCSIS 3.1 (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) and Remote PHY. Chris Day, co-founder of OneTree Microdevices, stated, "We are pleased to become part of ADI's comprehensive solution for cable access. Both ADI and OneTree are actively engaged in cable standardization discussions through direct engagement with customers, cable operators, and industry standards bodies. As a unified company, we will efficiently support cable operators in providing more attractive costs and data speeds to residential and enterprise users."
