The 2017 Seoul Motor Show featured approximately 300 automobiles from a total of 27 complete vehicle brands, and 194 related companies participated in addition to complete vehicles, including parts, IT, accessories, tuning, camping and service sectors, along with diverse participation from the Automotive Parts Research Institute and Electronics Parts Research Institute.


Over the 10-day period, cumulative visitors reached approximately 610,000 actual visitors, matching 2015 levels. Although the number of new vehicle exhibits decreased as some imported vehicle brands did not participate due to the diesel gate controversy, the show incorporated technology, culture, and entertainment into automobiles. Additionally, it was evaluated as an exhibition that improved outdated model show elements and focused future potential customers—younger generations and students—on the essence of automobiles. The International Conference themed "Innovation and Passion Opening the Automotive Future" attracted approximately 1,400 participants despite being a paid event, becoming the largest scale domestic forum event in the automotive industry.

Kim Yong-geun, Chairman of the Seoul Motor Show Organizing Committee, stated, "While the Seoul Motor Show faces limitations in historical significance and domestic market scale compared to continental-scale global motor shows, I would like to emphasize the significance of establishing differentiation by reinforcing global trends in advanced industry convergence including autonomous vehicles and eco-friendliness, and building an identity unique to the Seoul Motor Show," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to develop the Seoul Motor Show by expanding new vehicle exhibitions in line with Korea's market opening progress, strengthening the convergence of IT and automobiles, our country's strengths, and enhancing various experiential events and attractions."
