TechCrunch reported that Airbnb has established its own 'Data University' and is training its employees. While Google does conduct in-house training programs, Airbnb is the first to launch data science classes. The curriculum, composed of three levels, consists of 100-LEVEL data literacy available to everyone, 200-LEVEL which enhances data utilization capabilities, and 300-LEVEL which aggregates data and reaches the machine learning stage. Analytics and experimentation product managers confirmed that the iterative work produced actual results.

The Verge reported that Air New Zealand and Dimension Data are developing a customer service using HoloLens. The flight attendant's HoloLens provides detailed information about the customer's facial expression, allergies, and the time since consuming a beverage. It analyzes whether the customer's facial expression indicates a 'stable' or 'unstable' state to help provide better service. Additionally, HoloLens can be used in facial recognition processes to determine whether a passenger's face matches their passport.

Sphero has brought Lightning McQueen, the protagonist of Disney's CARS, to reality. The car runs approximately 6 miles (9.6 km) for about 40 minutes, just like in the movie. It also speaks like in the movie. It expresses about 300 different phrases with matching eye movements and wiggling wheels. Business Insider surveyed the rankings of computer science and information systems departments at universities worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2017). It analyzed academic reputation, employer reputation, and research outcomes. MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), which received 94 points, took first place. With approximately a quarter of Silicon Valley's workforce being MIT alumni, it is the 'mecca' of computer science. Second place goes to Stanford University, which has produced developers for Google, HP, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Additionally, Harvard University, University of Oxford, and Princeton University ranked 6th, 7th, and 8th respectively. In Asia, the National University of Singapore ranked 10th, Tsinghua University in Beijing ranked 15th, The University of Tokyo ranked 18th, and KAIST and Seoul National University ranked 33rd and 38th respectively.
