VMware has announced an update to its cloud management platform vRealize. The company is advancing upgrades across Business Cloud, Automation, Log Insight, and Network Insight.

The newly improved VMware vRealize enhances the operating environment of software-defined data centers (SDDC) and clouds, and accelerates the deployment of applications and infrastructure services on hybrid clouds. As a result, enterprises can more easily build and operate VMware-based clouds through enhanced intelligent operations capabilities and automated IT. Additionally, by expanding support for container and configuration management solutions, the company makes application development and deployment more convenient for enterprises.

vRealize Operations 6.6, a cloud infrastructure management solution, automates workload balancing on clusters and data stores according to business requirements, and allows users to set rebalancing periods in the maintenance management menu. Through pDRS (predictive Distributed Resource Scheduler), which combines vRealize Operations analytics with vSphere DRS, workload conditions can be predicted and situations where workloads concentrate on specific hosts can be avoided.

With updated management and monitoring capabilities, users can verify remaining capacity and time, and manage space that can be secured through deduplication and data compression as well as data storage space recovery status. Additionally, it provides effective troubleshooting, proactive alerting capabilities, and visibility encompassing virtual machines and disks to enable centralized management of multiple sites and clusters.

The cloud business management solution presents operational and cost metrics in an integrated manner to improve cost efficiency. This capability provides in-depth information on costs incurred in VMware-based private clouds, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.

Automation of infrastructure, application, and IT service delivery strengthens support for NSX, a network virtualization platform. The solution automates procedures from initial resource deployment through subsequent modifications, management, monitoring, and reclamation, and enables users to configure and deploy networking and security functions and load balancing required for operations through NSX. Additionally, by automating pre-placement of workloads, virtual machines can be positioned in optimal locations, and policies configured in vRealize Operations can be implemented through vRealize Automation.

vRealize Automation 7.3 focuses on improving IT administrator productivity. Pre-defined automated task designs called "blueprints" are divided into work units, and IT administrators can recombine blueprints in their preferred manner to reduce overall task time. Additionally, through blueprinting, service orchestration, workflow management, and configuration management tools provided by the new framework of vRealize Automation 7.3, operating systems, middleware, and applications can be easily deployed, configured, and managed, while expanding support for Microsoft Azure.

Network Insight supports cross-cloud security and network management. Users can configure security using AWS-based virtual private clouds and AWS tags, add AWS EC2 virtual machines to custom applications to implement micro-segmentation needed for the network, or identify and resolve traffic issues.
